The Darkest Future

The Darkest Future

So what do we actually picture when we hear the words “Boruto will lose everything” ? I think we’re all assuming it’s going to be fairly safe and he’ll lose one person like Naruto or Sasuke. But what if Kishimoto went all in? How could he go all in without mindlessly killing every character? Here’s a theory about how this could go down.

Boruto has dabbled on the concept of time travel and clairvoyance. What if Boruto’s jougan could travel backwards in time though? but only up to a certain point? Similar to how Eida can only see as far as she was born, what if Boruto could travel as far as idk a day? a few days? Here’s where i’m getting at, Boruto can lose everything and everyone, but he could use this ability to rewind back to the point where it all started. Basically Boruto would be stuck in a timeloop. No matter what he tries, someone or everyone dies until he eventually has to accept that one person must stay dead for the good of humanity. Now this might desensitizes us to some of the deaths, but we’d be left wondering who is going to stay dead permanently while also seeing Boruto go through lots of hardship, a hardship very similar to Sasuke going through Itachi’s Tsukuyomi over and over again, except it would be reality, in real time. My support for this is in Toneri’s own words. He says Boruto’s eye will be the star of hope in a cataclysm that will come to pass. These words imply that without the jougan, Boruto will lose and the world will end. So the jougan would be guiding Boruto towards the brightest future be allowing him to choose which path works best for humanity. Sadly this path might be Sasuke’s sacrifice.

Also, Boruto might even let Momoshiki take over and crawl into that corner in his psyche while Momoshiki sucks the life out of earth. Which could also leave Boruto in his darkest hour similar to how when Kurama was taking over Naruto in the pain fight. Anyways what do you think? Makes sense? No? Up vote if you like it.
