I just attended the Naruto Symphonic Experience and I want to share my first person experience. I hope this gives an insight to those who could not attend.
I sat a few rows from the front so I had a really close view of the orchestra and the show overall. They played the anime on the big screen (in sub) with just vocals and sound effects and the orchestra performs directly under the video providing the music for each scene. The whole event was based around Part 1 of Naruto (Shonen Jump) and they played the most important scenes of part 1 to get through everything. We saw all the main fights and highlights throughout part 1 such as the chunin exams with Sasukes curse mark or Gaara vs Lee and even the 3 legendary Sanin!
They even had vocalists on the left and right side of the stage. One of the vocalists would occasionally sing the lyrics in Japanese as-well. Everyone did very well from the vocalists to the musicians and composer. The way they played the music sounded flawless. Not only did they do a good job but they were involved with creating the energy and vibe with the audience. They played iconic outro songs even with audience members singing and clapping along.
There was all kinds of instruments of course the flutes and guitars but what was really cool to see in-person was the shamisen at the front of the stage. I have never seen someone play this instrument before! I’m pretty sure there everyone will get to experience this event because I noticed a camera crew appearing a few times.
Lots of cheering and hype for the characters as they appeared on screen, especially when Itachi and the Akatsuki appeared! I have to say the music was real and authentic when watching the Sub anime on the screen. At times the music will be louder than the voice actors from the anime which really brought out the connection between us fans and the music. It was beautiful.
