So what is Mitsuki’s purpose? Alot of people say he’s here in order to be Boruto’s moon while Boruto is his sun. Basically Boruto illuminates Mitsuki while Mitsuki watches over boruto. But why weaponize him so heavily? You can argue Orochimaru was just experimenting to create the perfect being, and also a son within that perfected being. I would agree to all of these reasonings, but I sense a bigger purpose for Mitsuki in all this.
For one, back before the Boruto manga on April 25th 2016, the Mitsuki oneshot was released. We already know his back story, but hear me out. On May 9th was when the Boruto manga started, and later on is when we got fused Momoshiki. The Boruto movie was released in 2015 as well. Notice the time frame…? Fused Momoshiki’s redesign changed AFTER the Mitsuki oneshot was released. Why is this relevant? Because Mitsuki’s sage mode looks like a transformed Otsutsuki or a “fused” otsutsuki. Yellow eyes…Black markings on his face and a horn grown on his head. I’m not saying Mitsuki is an otsutsuki, but he might have some otsutsuki dna inside of him. I will explain.
The blank period between Naruto and Boruto, alot of things happened we never got to see. Now Orochimaru is all of a sudden allowed to experiment as he pleases. We also know Sasuke has spent years away from the village searching Kaguya’s dimension for clues on Otsutsuki, and we also know Toneri visited earth and gave Boruto a mysterious power which is Jougan. What if Toneri did more then just visit Boruto? What if he visited Orochimaru as well? In fact lets take it even further, what if there was a secret meeting behind closed doors we never saw? A contingency plan incase Otsutsuki were to rain down on the world once again. Everyone knew Kaguya was from the stars even in Shippuden this was explained, and it was added that she was preparing for more to come. Anyways the problem was that they didn’t know WHEN, which could have been a time where Naruto and Sasuke had passed away.
Anyways, basically this meeting was held in order to find more solutions for problems like these. Naruto and Sasuke were both special cases, situations that won’t happen ever again realistically. So thats when science became the answer. For one, the village did advance much further because of this, and Orochimaru’s experiments were green lit and most likely funded in order to give him the freedom to find the Otsutsuki solution. This is when Project Mitsuki was born. Orochimaru was allowed to experiment and create the perfect being that could defend earth. But this wasn’t enough for Orochimaru, after seeing what Kabuto became in the war. Orochimaru needed to find a new purpose in life. He had seen Sasuke and Kabuto follow in different footsteps then his own, but that wasn’t enough. This is when he chose to make mitsuki into his son. Orochimaru wanted Mitsuki to grow naturally, and develop real emotions that can help him become truly stronger in the future.

Anyways now for the conclusion. Toneri after the Naruto movie said that he could never repay Naruto’s debt. But it’s possible he tried to. Toneri could have joined these secret meetings and offered to lend Orochimaru some of his dna with consent. But he most likely kept the Boruto thing a secret. With the help of Toneri’s dna and the leaf’s funding and consent. Mitsuki was born. Mitsuki’s sage chakra is VERY potent compared to anything we’ve seen. Naruto’s is strong, but he has to actively mix it with Kurama’s chakra. Mitsuki seems to draw it in instantly, meaning he most likely has Jugo’s dna within him. In fact Mitsuki might have the perfect blend of everyone’s Dna inside of him, which is why he isn’t “otsutsuki” but something else entirely.
This is the last time we see Toneri and Naruto does ask him to come to earth and Toneri did say he could never repay his debt
Otsutsuki absorb natural energy, but they don’t weaponize it, or learn how to harness it. They just eat chakra fruits which are made to evolve them. Even Urashiki said that Mitsuki’s chakra was dangerous. Eating and absorbing the natural chakra doesn’t necessarily mean you can fight against it.Here’s an example, pain could absorb the rasenshriken, but he couldn’t take Naruto constantly inserting Natural energy onto him. Otsutsuki can most likely absorb MUCH larger amounts then pain as well which is why they can tolerate it more. But this doens’t mean it wouldn’t harm them if it was in the form of thick, pure, potent and harnessed energy which Mitsuki demonstrates. Mitsuki takes the form of an otsutsuki because he fils himself up with Natural energy causing his otsutsuki genes to react and evolve him. Mitsuki’s potential is much higher then Naruto and Sasuke’s were, and FAR surpasses Sakura and the 5 kage who all could be relevant to the otsutsuki. Mitsuki is the perfect answer and I believe this was all planned a long time ago. On top of this Mitsuki is replaceable and can be recreated over and over again. This is already too long but here’s my thoughts. What do you think? IS Mitsuki the perfect answer to otsutsuki?
And this is when he considered it a threat. yes he’s smiling, but he’s assuming that Mitsuki isn’t going to get that far in the future anyways. Ya know his usual cocky attitude that got himself killed lol
